As stated in a post before, Andromeda has been whitewashed throughout the history of Greek Mythology/History. Its so entrenched in the minds of readers and scholars everywhere that the fact that she comes from and was born in Ethiopia (and is a woman of color) flies right over their heads. It doesn’t register. So it comes to no surprise that in WRATH OF THE TITANS, Andromeda is portrayed as a blonde, blue-eyed white woman, portrayed by British actress Rosamund Pike (Pride and Prejudice, 2005).That made me remember about old (1973) Russian animated film “Perseus”. Probably the only not-whitewashed Andromeda in the world.
Soviet animation was great! Too bad it’s almost not known now…

You see the opera is in fact set in egypt and what was really interesting about the animation was that the character Pamina (the female lead) was depicted as an albino, i thought that I put the video up on my other tumblr but it turns out I didn’t so I’m going to put this up now on my other blog

Straight White Male: The Lowest Difficulty Setting
I’ve been thinking of a way to explain to straight white men how life works for them, without invoking the dreaded word “privilege,” to which they react like vampires being fed a garlic tart at high noon. It’s not that the word “privilege” is incorrect, it’s that it’s not their word. When confronted with “privilege,” they fiddle with the word itself, and haul out the dictionaries and find every possible way to talk about the word but not any of the things the word signifies.
So, the challenge: how to get across the ideas bound up in the word “privilege,” in a way that your average straight white man will get, without freaking out about it?
Being a white guy who likes women, here’s how I would do it…
